Welcome to ArielCattan.com

Welcome  8-)

I originally set up this site to promote an iPhone® application I developed, which I called SubMovie. However, after almost two years, I decided to remove it from the App Store, mainly because I have no time to maintain and improve it.

I’d like to thank all of you guys who downloaded it! It was really a great journey, I got great feedback from many of you, as well as great suggestions for new features, which as I mentioned I had no time to implement… But I’m sure I’ll come back to app development at some point as I find it fascinating.

I’m leaving below a description of SubMovie, but as I mentioned, it is no longer available on the App Store.

For those of you who are using SubMovie, I’m still here to help you with any problem you may have. Just use the Support page or Contact Us page to contact me.

SubMovie Icon SubMovie was an iPhone video player with which you can enjoy movies on your iPhone, with subtitles in your own language. SubMovie natively read and parsed .srt (subtitles) files, and displayed them on the movie in different sizes and colors.

A word about myself

My name is Ariel Cattan. Welcome to my new web site! I know, it’s not much of a web site at the moment. I created it mainly to promote SubMovie and give you guys a means to contact me with support issues, questions and wishes. Actually I should be ashamed of myself, working more than 25 years in the software development business, and establishing my own web site only now. I guess I’m always too busy…
I’ve always been a gadget freak. And the iPhone is no exception. I found the iPhone to be an amazing piece of technology, opening up a huge number of new possibilities, and offering software developers a platform to make their fantasies come true.
The idea for SubMovie came from my 14 year old daughter, who spent her 3 years saving on a new iPad (she reminds me of her dad…). After a few days she came running to me, showing me a movie on her iPad and how amazing it looked. And it did look amazing. But then she said: “it’s almost perfect… if only it had subtitles…”. Eventually it turned out to be an iPhone app, but that’s OK as it could also run on the iPad.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank my brother, Micky Cattan, for the lovely artwork and graphics used in SubMovie.
And for the users of SubMovie – thank you for trusting me and downloading the application. I hope you enjoyed it and still do!
